 RE/RS Curriculum for 2016-2017

Religious Education is a very important part of the curriculum at Wakefield City Academy.  In 21st Century Great Britain we live in a multi-cultural and multi-faith society.  It is now more vital than ever that people of different cultures and faiths have an understanding of each other’s beliefs and backgrounds.

Religious Education enables students to develop respect for and sensitivity to others, in particular those whose faith and beliefs are different from their own. It promotes discernment and enables pupils to combat prejudice.

In Year 7 the subject is taught for one hour per week, then for two hours per week in Year 8, and one hour per week in Year 9.  If students opt to take the Religious Studies GCSE course in Years 10 & 11 they will study the subject for 3 hours a week.
